Fall Protection Competent Person Training:
Who Should Attend? Any individual who will be
assigned to a job site where fall hazards exist, and those
individuals that need to become familiar with OSHA
Standards for competent person in fall protection
This 8-hour course is designed for personnel who will be
responsible for supervision on jobsites where fall hazard
exist. Attendees will learn the OSHA competent person
requirements for fall protection, fall hazard identification,
how to select the proper protective equipment and
importance of pre-planning for fall protection.

• General Requirements for Fall Protection
• Use and application of conventional fall protection
systems including positioning and personal fall arrest
systems (PFAS)
• Guardrail systems and safety net systems
• Covers
• Use and application of specialized fall protection
systems, including fall protection plans
• Inspection and maintenance of fall protection
systems with hands-on examination of equipment
• Competent person training requirements
• Pre-planning techniques to eliminate fall exposures
• Rescue considerations
Excavation Competent Person Training:
Who Should Attend: Any supervisor who will be
assigned to excavation jobs and those individuals
who need to become familiar with OSHA standards
for competent persons at excavations.
This 8-hour course is designed for personnel who
will be responsible for supervising excavation
jobs. Attendees will learn OSHA competent
person requirements for excavations, how to
choose protective systems and general jobsite
hazard awareness. Attendees may take an
optional written examination at the completion of
the course and upon passing will be issued a
course completion card and certificate from the
Chicagoland Construction Safety Council.
